The Cow - 2:155
We will test you with fear, hunger, loss of money, lives, and crops. Give good news to those who are patient.
An example of a test with hunger:
The Table Spread/5:3
Forbidden to you are carrion, blood, the flesh of swine and what is dedicated to none but Allah. Except that you slaughter them before they are dead, animals that have been strangled, shot, fallen, gored and eaten by beasts, and those slaughtered on sacred stones and distributed with fortune-telling arrows, yes, these are evil. The unbelievers have despaired of your religion today. Do not fear them; fear Me. Today I have perfected your religion for you, I have completed My blessing upon you, and I have chosen Islam as your religion. Whoever is in hardship because of hunger and eats without any temptation to sin, there is no sin on him. For Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
The Cow/2:61
"But you said, "Moses! We will no longer be able to endure a single kind of food. Call your Lord for us and let Him grow for us beans, squash, garlic, lentils, onions, and whatever the earth produces,"and He said, "Do you want to exchange what is good for what is inferior? Go back to Egypt, and there you will find what you seek."So they were condemned to lowliness and poverty and incurred the wrath of Allah. Because they were always ungrateful to the signs of Allah and killed the prophets unjustly. Because they were disobedient and transgressors."
The Cow/2:249
"When Talut took command of the army, he reported: "Allah will test you with a river. Whoever drinks from it is not from me. Whoever does not taste it but only takes a sip with his hand is from me."They all drank from it except a few. When he crossed the river with those who believed with him, they said, "Today we have no strength to resist Goliath and his army."And those who believed that they would meet Allah said: "How many a small company has defeated a large company by Allah´s permission. Allah is with the patient."
The Cow/2:273
Give to the needy who have been deprived of the opportunity to migrate because of their work in the way of Allah. Those who do not know them think that they are rich because of their dignity. You recognize them by their faces. They do not beg for help from the people. Allah knows every good deed you do.
The Repentance/9:120
Neither the people of the city nor the Arabs around them should lag behind the Messenger of Allah, nor should they prefer themselves to him. For every thirst, fatigue and hunger they suffer in the way of Allah, every step they take in the way of Allah that will anger the disbelievers, and every success they gain against the enemy will be written down as a credit for them. Allah never loses the reward of those who do good.
The City/90:12
Do you know what the hard way is?
The City/90:13
To free the slaves;
The City/90:14
To feed in times of famine:
The City/90:15
A relative orphan,
The City/90:16
Or a poor person in need
